Wolfgang is a poetic parody – informed by the queer subculture of drag; as well as of absurdity – informed by the Japanese dance form butoh. Wolfgang ‘paints’ their face with the whiteness of blonde wig hair, subversively activating the fabric and fabrications of female gender performativity. Stretched across the natural and artificial, Wolfgang dissociates into multiple selves, dancing blindly in fractured space. But when they find a moment of unity, something changes in their voice, and they begin to speak to the trauma entangled in their body.
